Pros: even smooth finish
"I've used these for acrylic varnish, primer/undercoat (both water based) and gloss. The finish is very even and smooth. A light rubbing down of varnish once dry gives a perfect finish and it's so much easier than using brushes. I tried three brush coats of varnish, rubbing down between each and still couldn't get a good finish. Just two coats and a final rub down is all I needs with the pad. My builder and carpenter at the time were most impressed!
I don't bother with a paint tray, I just put dabs of paint ahead of where I'm working and spread it across the surface in all directions finishing with a gentle straight line.
Don't overdo the paint thickness; although drips are easy to avoid, ridges can form if the paint is too deep.
Gloss paint also works well though I haven't tried cleaning a pad afterwards. With water based paint cleaning is easy."

Pros: no mess, cheap, simple to use
"These paint pads are far better than paint brushes/rollers. With the pads the paint goes on easily and doesn't splash all over the place. Highly recomended!"

"Painting isn't one of my strong points, but I thought I'd give these paint pads a go... I was very impressed with the ease of use, the paint went on well, nice and even coverage with no marks or lines - and no splashes that I usually get with rollers! The pad also holds a good quantity of paint without dripping. Another great point was the ease of cleaning, washed out much quicker than a roller, no lose of pile on the pad, and dried out incredibly quickly! Overall I thought this was a great product and I am now a converted paint pad decorator!!"
