Pros: a product that works well, not expensive, great free delivery from wickes online
Cons: poor instructions

"This is a quality product and probably the least expensive softener on the UK market by £100 or so. It's easy to install but instructions are poor and there is no indication of how often to regenerate the resin for a particular installation. Homework shows that this kit will suit up to a 3-bed / 5person home. Each generation will provide about 1500L of softened water from 10L of resin but I guess that it will depend on the hardness of the water to be treated. The timer is preset to regenerate at 2am (programmable and manual overide) and there is a choice to regenerate every 1,2 or 3 nights depending on usage/water hardness. The effect of softened water is stunning - if you happen to live in a hard water area"

Superb Product that works well, 31 July 2008
By ramair from London

Pros: little attention needed when running, quiet efficient operation
Cons: tricky to set controller

"Easy to plumb in. The salt is readily available from DIY stores but does require carefully loading a cup at a time through a small opening. The filling instructions were a little daunting and unclear especially setting the electronic controller but the helpline was very good and answered all questions clearly and quickly. Once running the equipment is effortless needing to be replenished with about 20kg of salt every 7 weeks."

Good value, 09 July 2008
By hobbyhorse from Boston Lincs

Pros: simple, reliable
Cons: awkward to fill.

"I bought one of these over 10 years ago for my previous house. It never gave any trouble in all that time. It is a simple machine lacking the automation and salt management. But those machines are considerably dearer. It does take a 25Kg bag of salt, but filling it direct from the bag when it is installed in a cupboard as shown does require some strength and skill strength and skill. It really needs a removable filler chute. But my best recommendation is that I've bought another."
