Don't use anything else, 18 December 2008

Pros: so easy to use, excellent value for money

"If you are going to fit a laminate floor then make sure this product goes underneath it.

It is so easy to fit, all you need is a good sharp knife and some parcel tape/jcloth tape to join them together to do the job.

It cushions the floor without any give, and deadens the sound when you walk on your new floor.

Forget the stuff on a roll, I wouldn't use anything else than this."

"Ever walked on one of those floors that flex like a trampoline under your feet? What was needed to prevent this sort of diy mishap is a firm foundation for your new and expensive floor, skimping on this can lead to a poor finish on your job, this particular underlay can iron out small floor imperfections that can make all the difference to your finished floor.I've use quite a few types of underlays bubble plastic type etc,but if you want the best this is it ,great sound deadening qualities as well, 100% recommendation for quality v price its unbeatable"

Pros: good metre coverage

"SUPERB QUALITY BOARDS, EASY TO CUT WITH EXCELLENT ACOUSTIC QUALITIES, UNLIKE MATTING (FOAM ROLLS). QUALITY OF BOARDS SUPPLEMENT THE INSTALL PROCESS. WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND USING THESE FOR LAMINATE INSTALLATIONS - QUALITY SUPERIOR TO OTHER LARGER RETAILER BRANDS!"

"Easy to lay. Do wear gloves though as fibre does irritate skin. Use a sharp blade to trim as this will certainly stop any waste."

Pros: brilliant price, excellent quality

"I have used this product before in my living room and it is excellent stuff. It can be irritating to the skin, so I would advise gloves to be worn.
It provides excellent sound proofing & insulation. I have just ordered more to lay under some laminates in a bedroom."

alot better than the thin underlay, 07 September 2008
By Kamy from West Yorkshire
Good Quality: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5
Value for money: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Pros: value
Cons: irritating

"Bought at £20 a pack - good value for money. This product is also better than the thin underlay and similar to price. Use gloves when installing because this is very irritating. Also the instructions tell you to 'glue' down the boards for extra insulation but it is not required."

Laminate Flooring Underlay, 05 September 2008
By Bugsy from Birmingham
Good Quality: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5
Value for money: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Pros: easy to use, good base surface, cheaper than other diy/flooring outlets
Cons: pack of 20 - sheets left over

"I have used this in two bedrooms a hall and a utility area on both concrete and wooden floors. It is easy to use provides good sound and draught insulation, outperforms the thin foam underlays used in other houses I have visited and gave me a good finish on some rather poor & uneven surfaces.
Easy to cut/trim to size or shape though it needs a sharp (new) blade for best results. It can generate a bit of dust during handling - this may irritate those with sensitive skin etc."

Is it right?, 20 August 2008
By Lobster from SW17
Good Quality: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5
Value for money: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

Pros: cut into squares
Cons: expensive

"Not having seen this I though it was thicker, from the web pic and a board with a soft base to absorb indentations. In fact it is flexible insulating material cut into large squares. So similar to any thin underlay. It also needs to have a PVA or other sealant on the base if you are laying onto treated wood. I feel that it will do the job of insulation and helping indentations."
