Pros: cheap works well adequate disc cutter.
Cons: tinny construction. poor fence.
" Thanks to all previous review contributers. Yes, the water tray demon. I made some one and a half inch brackets to higher the cutter prior to using and then had no problems changing the water. Only took half hour to make.
The tile saw worked well for the money and cut all the 18" tiles to complete my L shaped kitchen.
Would recommend.

" Does what it says on the box.
If you do not force force the pace of the cutting but let the machine work at it's own speed it is accurate and smooth.
Emptying the water container is a bit of a pain but you just have to be careful and when using the cutter be prepared to get wet.
It works well.

Pros: works!, excellent value for money
Cons: need to check alignments etc carefully, construction obviously "done to a price", water bath awkward to get at
" While the construction is a bit "tinny" and misaligned, and the water bath is not the easiest thing to get in and out, this worked really well when I made adjustments like realising that the guide rail needed about 6mm difference between the top and bottom scales.
However, for £35 I can't complain, and it did the job for which I bought it. "

Pros: cuts quickly and cheaply
Cons: that water tray
" Bought this to cut roof slates.
This does the business provided you take care. Have cut slates up to 10mm thick without problems.
Saw spews out water - so wear weatherproofs.
Also - would confirm that on completion of your work - emptying the water tray is impossible without tipping the machine whole (make sure it is off first) to empty water into a bucket. Then remove the tray.
If you are cutting slates - expect to have to remove quite a bit of mud from the saw, plate and water tray.
I wear goggles, ear defenders and a mask (to prevent inhalation of dust).

Pros: excellent value for money, accurate cutting obtained
Cons: guide a bit fiddly to secure
" I bought this to cut my 9mm kitchen floor tiles and found that it worked very well. It allows for very accurate and deep cutting although sometimes the blade may stick in the tile on deep length cuts. A larger motor may solve this but would cost more to buy. This is an excellent value addition to the home DIY toolbox and would recommend it for DIY work. "

Pros: cheap
Cons: stupid water tray!!
" Bought this as i was going to be putting up a new kitchen back splash and slate flooring in the bathroom. Guard didn't fit so didn't even try using it, as a consequence water sprays everywhere but i was outside so didn't matter really! Don't try and use the measuring rule on either side after one cut it's covered in dust and water and can't be seen. Won't mention the water tray as its a pain! But for 35 quid its a bargin and did all jobs i needed without a flinch. "

Pros: price
Cons: water tray
" I bought this for a specific job, which was a 20 sqm floor of 10mm slate tiles.
I did find that it was very easy to stall the blade, but keeping it clean does help considerably and it just requires letting the machine work at it's own speed. I certainly didn't have a blade life issue as it is still on it's original blade and cuts as well as it did when I started.
The water tray is a pain as others have said - the only way to not spill water is to lift the whole machine and empty the tray before removing it. This really is quite poor design, but a niggle more than anything else.
The guides are very precise but could do with some form of quick release.
All in all it will do the job admirably and cheaply. "

Pros: value for money
Cons: poor design of water tray
" I had about 40 large wall tiles to cut, including some quite awkward shapes and was looking to hire or buy secondhand until a found this. Quality is adequate, the table is a bit flimsy but it does the job perfectly, I had no issues with the motor power or blade quality or life, the only real gripe being the fact that the water tray can't be removed without tilting and consequent spilling of the messy slurry. Not sure how it would stand up to heavy use but as the occasional DIY tool it is intended to be it is an absolute bargain. "

Pros: outstanding value doesn't feel cheap
Cons: could do with more powerful motor blade can stall
" As other people have mentioned, the water tray is hard to remove without spilling it all, i normally leave it in and top up with hose or watering can.
I can't believe that motor is 450w, seems to have the power of a hair dryer!!
Solid piece of kit though and thoroughly recommend, may look at getting a better blade.

Pros: great vfm
Cons: blade poor
" Tile cutter was a bargain and overall has been a good work horse.
However the cutting blade did not last very long wore away in around twenty or so cuts. Luckily got two replacements from other supplier, that with a little modification - drilled the hole out! worked great.
Have went on to cut well over a huundred tiles without a problem.

Pros: value for money
Cons: lack of power and some poor design
" Cheaper than hiring one, I bought this saw to cut 16mm slate tiles in a 40m2 kitchen. The cutting disc included is pretty useless. Spend some money and invest in a decent one. The saw stood up to the job more than adequately all in all. Very good value for money, but a few minor niggles. The water tray is a terrible design. You cannot get it out without tipping the whole thing over. The guard is also pretty poor and doesnt lend itself to thicker tiles. I had to remove it in the end meaning that water went everywhere! The guide is also a bit of an after thought. Don't rely on it for straight cuts. Fix up your own with a straight edge and some decent clamps. On the plus side, does the job, is easy to clean and is overall great value for money. "

" remember that this is a DIY tool and not trade then you will not go far wrong at all. Mine has done 2 kitchens and and going strong. Just remember to clean thoroughly after use and it is fine.
By the way try cutting marble type tiles, "a dream" it cut 8 mm xlips accurately and without and splits or breaks.

Does the Job,
By dom1
Expertise: Easy DIYer
16 December 2008
Pros: cheap good for small-medium jobs
Cons: poor markings on the measuring ruler, poorly designed water tray
" For the price the tile cutter is adequate. It does a good job at cutting most tiles but with harder/thicker tiles you may be better off going with the more powerful model as the blade can 'stick' .
As others have mentioned the water tray is impossible to change without spilling its contents everywhere and the measuring rule is almost unreadable after just one project.
